Routines
Scheduled agent runs — briefings, reports, and recurring work that fires without you asking.
Routines flip the chat loop around. Instead of you asking and the agent answering, a routine is a saved prompt that fires on a schedule: a morning briefing at 7:30, a Friday retro, an inbox sweep every half hour. Schedules can be one-off, every N minutes, daily, weekly, or a cron expression. Froots ships a library of about seventy-five presets to start from. Pick one, edit the prompt, set the schedule, and save.
Separately, each agent has an optional heartbeat: a background check-in every 15 minutes to 2 hours that decides whether anything is worth telling you, and only notifies you when it is. It's off by default. Turn it on per agent under Edit agent → Heartbeat.
To find routines, press ⌘K and search for "routines", or "new routine" to make one.
This page is an outline — the full guide is being written. It will cover:
- Creating a routine: schedule, prompt, and where its output goes
- How the heartbeat decides what surfaces
- Reading routine output and run history
- Three routines worth setting up on day one
For how the scheduler works, see the Routines overview.
